Yup, I have been long absent because a (somewhat?) powerful virus attacked the Carme server within Little Dancer and it took two weeks to have that virus eradicated because it has been spread a bit and it had some sites affected, which caused the delay. Although I seriously felt deprived without the server up, it was worth the wait, I guess you can say.
Nevertheless, Little Dancer is back on its feet again. I opted for the smaller hosting services rather than the big-time expensive ones like iPage and Hostpapa because of two reasons: No hidden limits underneath the “unlimited”1 and of course, my major factor of concern with web hosts: reliable tech support.2
Jennifer, the owner of Little Dancer, has always been prompt whenever the hostees needed serious help with their sites and other technical issues involving their sites and even the servers they’re being hosted at. And whenever they have major serious cases such as the two-week virus problem in the Carme server, she was always there to keep us updated with the latest status so at least we wouldn’t have to panic and complain and whine. For me though, the last thing that I wanna do is look for another host at this point, especially if I don’t even have the money to pay for new hosting.
A brand-new anti-virus system has been installed in both servers so we won’t have to go through that same problem again. Regardless, I still commend Jennifer and staff for getting the problem fixed. I know it took a very long time, but at least they were able to fix it. Prompt and diligent tech support is obviously one of the major factors that every web designer/developer should be looking for to get their sites hosted, because seriously. Web designers/developers got not knowledge when it comes to server issues. We only build and develop websites for ourselves and for other people. When the issue of the server comes in play, we webdevs are completely helpless.
So, if you are a lost webdev looking for a good, affordable, reliable hosting with the right needed specs and honest and prompt tech support, check out Little Dancer. You don’t have to take my word for it. I’m just plugging it for everyone!
I still have yet to make those buttons for her site. I feel all bad now LOL, but I’ll get to them ASAP, now I got my groove back seeing the server back up again.
- Seriously these hosts shouldn’t penalize their hostees for using/installing something that can cause major traffic or ridiculously using up all of its resources and then force them to get some kind of a VPN server while you’re getting ripped off at the same time… [↩]
- It’s one of the main reasons why I end up switching hosts several times… [↩]
