When I come to the city at night, there is no shortage of lights here, there, around the corner, right next to you, even across from where you stand. No matter how early or late you arrive at the streets of the city, as long as there are lights, you should be able to stay safe while at the same time, feeling free to explore and experience the things that you could do in this populous place that you couldn’t do back at home or even in your town or village.
When the lights are on, you know there are a lot of happenings going on. If only you had the time to experience all of these things, you know you would be having a blast. It’s a lot more fun when you are with your friends and a lot more fun when you also make new friends while you are still with these same friends. My mom would always tell me that if I should ever go to the city at night that I should never go alone. And like any other parent, of course, the only thing that they would have in mind is for the safety of their children, especially when they go to an openly public place such as the city.
I live in a suburb that is categorized as a city because of its population. However, the surroundings and the atmosphere gave me the vibe of being in a town with people you are almost familiar with, whether you meet them on a daily basis or even see them at the same bus or train station as you you go to school or work every weekday morning. You start to get a little nervous sometimes because you may end up doing something that may be deemed inappropriate in public, especially in front of these almost familiar people you see almost daily in your own suburban city. In a huge city, especially at night, you don’t get that. You notice how a lot of people who (seem like they) love to go to clubs always exit out looking drunk and shameless? No one would know or even care, as long as you don’t run into those almost familiar people who live in the same hometown as you. At least, that’s one of a few things I see whenever I think of the city at night.
San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Fremont, and Hayward are the usual cities that I normally go during my normal life. I do admit that I rarely to never go to cities at night, mainly because I love being a homebody. When I get home from work, all I could think of is resting and spending the remaining rest time I’ve got doing the things I love to do. If only I get to find some kind of a social club, like a local book club or a writer’s club, maybe I would spend a lot of time doing these activities I love doing at home at these cities at night.
