This COVID-19 Pandemic may still have given some of us a very long unintended “vacation” from being outside the house, but the effects has gotten to many of us with all the news we’ve been hearing and seeing from our own local and national news outlets as of late. Sadly, from the looks of things right now, especially here in the U.S., it’s not getting any better. In addition, 2020 is also presidential elections, and for me, the COVID-19 situation will play a huge big role in voting decisions for many people. Sadly, there are still stubborn, blind people in this country still protesting that wearing masks violates their “basic rights.” 1
I’m still in between jobs, still taking online courses, but lately I also started taking art courses as well. I wanted to balance my own creativity between coding and the fine arts. I’ve written a bit about my ongoing artistic journey here, but rather than just sticking with digital art, I also started going back to doing analog (tradiitonal) art once more. I have a lot of art supplies sitting in my cabinets, plus I found a lot more art treasures from my sisters’ old stuff as my family and I were finally cleaning up and re-organizing our garage. Two years ago, we had the second floor of our house renovated, which was why we all had to move out all of our stuff from our bedrooms. Since my siblings no longer live in this house, we also had to take out all of the stuff they left behind and we stuffed them in our garage. At that time, my father was still alive. We were supposed to clean up the garage once the renovations were completed, but my dad started to grow weak and we simply focused all our energy from the garage clean up to taking care of my father during his last few months.
We finally set the time to clean the garage mid-July. I found a lot of treasures of art supplies from my old storage box, as well as my sisters’ old things as well. I was able to obtain some other art supplies from my sisters also, namely unused watercolor tubes, brushes, trays, and paper. I even found empty refill bottles, like spray bottles, that I can use to fill up with water and spray paper for watercolor painting. Cleaning up is a pain, but at the same time fun. With all of the art supplies I found, I discovered an inspiration to get back into analog art, just to take a break between digital art and traditional art.
I should have been blogging also about my art progress, but I seem to find a lot quicker and more convenient with Instagram. I’ll still be doing some book reviews on Adri Mars INK, so please stay tuned for them. As of now, these are the types of art that I’ve made from the online art courses I’m currently taking.
It’s quite a short blog entry, but as you can tell, it’s not like I can blog every single day or even once a week. I’m getting myself busy and not get bored through art for a long time now and it’s also very therapeutic. I have been mentally exhausted from all the mess that’s been happening in the world right now and even with my current J-Pop fandoms, I just don’t feel as active or excited anymore because of this mental exhaustion, so I’m stepping out from the fandom social media until I find myself hyped up for my favorite J-Pop boy groups once more.
Till next time!
