Yesterday I spent my entire day dropping off my job searching duties and sat at my family room watching this wondrous, historical presidential inauguration of our new president, President Barack Obama.
To me yesterday had finally sunk in to me that the first sign of change had finally arrived. When Obama was elected last November I thought I was living in a dream. It wasn’t until Inauguration Day that I was finally awakened to realize that none of this was a dream anymore. It has finally made me realize that if an American of African descent can become the President of the United States, anybody of any race (as long as they were born and raised in the U.S.) can become the President of the United States.
It’s hard to explain this feeling but just seeing the inauguration gave me a boost of confidence that one day I will be able to find a new job (particularly full-time permanent with the necessary benefits) soon. I know I’ve been only unemployed for a few days but to me it feels like forever.
Lately I’ve been trying to get myself busy aside from searching a new job. I need to live while I’m at home, if you know what I mean.
