People say that teen Harajuku (street) fashion icon (now singer) Kyary Pamyu Pamyu 〈きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ〉 is the Japanese version of Lady Gaga. Being a long-time fan of Japanese pop culture, comparing this girl to Lady Gaga is pure injustice. Japan, especially the Harajuku district of Tokyo, has always won the eccentricity category in pop culture and that their (street) fashions have been always flashy, boastful and expressive like the way Lady Gaga dons her stuff on stage way before Lady Gaga debuted in mainstream music. Though I’m not a huge fan of fashion in general, I can’t help but find her single PONPONPON catchy.
This girl isn’t just a hit on YouTube in Japan, but she’s also a major hit in other countries, most notably Korea. I’m not much in to Japan’s eccentricity in their pop culture, but I gotta say that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu-chan is going to take the world by storm very soon. :D
The PV is simply colorful, as in candy-colored colorful filled with sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and any little cute (and eccentric) thing you could think of. Though I’m not usually in to tis category of J-Pop and culture, the song itself is so addicting (the title of the song is insane on its own but the lyrics are actually on a positive “don’t give up, keep on moving” note :D).
PON PON way way way
PON PON way PON way PON PON
Way way PON PON PON
Way way PON way PON way way…
For the note, though I’m (somewhat) proficient in Japanese, I don’t know what “PONPONPON” means or what it is even LOL. XD
