I remember growing up watching reruns of The Monkees TV sitcom series back on Nickelodeon before. After 50 years since the airing, the surviving members of the band, (Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith, and Peter Tork) have finally released a brand-new album, Good Times!, featuring previously unreleased songs back in 1966 to new ones by current singers and songwriters, such as Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Andy Partridge of XTC, and other notable names in today’s rock industry. The best thing about it is that the newer songs also have that good ol’ ’60s feeling too.
One of my favorites is this one, Whatever’s Right, one of the previously unreleased songs written by Boyce & Hart back in 1966 (the same peeps who wrote their classics such as Last Train to Clarksville and I’m a Believer). I’ll post one of the newer ones probably tomorrow.1
Still… may you rest in peace, Davy.
On the sidenote...
- unless if you’re following my Twitter, I already posted the YouTube video of that newer song. The song is really laid back and it has that feel-good vibe. ???? [↩]
