By the time I finish this post, it will be October 15, 2019. But for me, it has been a long-time blog habit of mine to write a blog post on my birthday every year. 1 Only this time, I was occupied with a lot of things that aren’t really celebratory. My family and I had a home-only dinner yesterday (10/13/19), something simple, with all the favorite Filipino dishes we all grew up with and love, and all eyes were always right at our nine-month-old baby, Robbie.
This pure bundle of joy is everything to me. I may not be his mom, but I’ve been sharing the duties with my mom 2 as his auntie and one of his godmothers after his Baptism. The boy is growing really fast, which is the downside of babies, you know? They don’t remain as babies that long in comparison to being a kid, a teenager, and an adult. Still, I look forward to Robbie’s future once he passes the baby and toddler stage. He still couldn’t walk and he’s been training himself on how to stand up without any aid, but the boy can crawl like an insect.
On the downside of things, this is also my very first birthday without my father. But the upside is that this is also my first birthday with Robbie being here with us.
This will be a short post since it’s almost 1:00 a.m. here. I’ve been busy, not just with baby, the aftermath of my dad’s passing, but also I’ve been investing much of my time getting back to coding and anything else related to coding. I haven’t been very good with keeping up with my #100DaysOfCode updates because I’m the type when I get into a coding project, I don’t even know when I should stop to take a break. It’s the same with blogging sometimes when you’ve got so much inspiration flowing through you.
Speaking of coding, there are a few things that I started to look into as of late.
The “New” Blog Post Formatting
I admit I’m very lazy when it comes to posting accompanying images on every blog post I make 3 because meddling with Photoshop can be draining sometimes. I started to look into quicker graphics apps that I can use that are already pre-made for social media posting and even for blog posting.
I found Adobe Spark Post from the Google Play store and installed it on my phone. I finally am able to make the type of accompanying images that I wanted to make for my blog posts, namely this one. I started using it for AXCEL STYLE too, with a bit of some editing touch-up on the MADKID official photos. I’ve been loving this app very much.
More Minimalism?
After much thought with my currently existing sites, I decided to close down Symmetry. I was going to convert it into a health and Instant Pot-related food blog, but time isn’t really friendly and I just simply didn’t have the time to work on it. I did decide to keep Asiatic Takes though.
That would be it for this post. Maybe I’ll have a Part 2 of this entry or something when I do get to them. I’m about to crash to sleep soon.
Goodnight!
(… and then, I see the news that there was a 4.5 Richter scale earthquake that just happened sometime ago. I was taking a shower so I didn’t feel it, but my mom mentioned a huge jolt that she felt downstairs and was sure it wasn’t the train crossing on the railroad right at our neighborhood’s backyards…)

A belated happy birthday!
I know what you mean with having any kind of event after someone’s passed. This year too, was the first birthday for me without my brother. I hope you’re doing okay though. At least you had the baby with you if nothing else.

Hi Megan, long time no see. 😊
Yep, indeed. It’s a wonderful feeling with a little family member in your life while still going through the loss of your closest loved one. I know now that a lot has changed within our family. It used to be exciting, but now it’s like, a part of our livelihood was lost.
Still, we won’t give up with the way we live. We all have to live on for the sake of the loved ones we lost. That’s what I think anyway. 🙂

Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a good one :) Robbie sounds so darling! I have a young nephew who is just over a year old now and 6 nieces ranging in age from 6 months to 12 years old. I don’t live super close to any of them though so that sucks but I do get to see some of them from time to time. Enjoy every moment of Robbie that you can! They grow up so fast but that being said my 9 and 12 year old nieces are a blast though and so much fun to be around. They are great at any age!

I have photos of the little munchkin on my Instagram. I even made a digital oil painting of him not too long ago too. But yes, I agree. They really grow up so fast that next thing you know, you’ll be dealing with a little smartass. I’m prepared for that day LOL. 😅
I’m in my early 40s, but I’m already a grandaunt LOL. I have a 5-year-old grand-nephew from my niece (late cousin’s daughter) and her husband. That’s just how it is with big families, I guess LOL.
