I have been waiting patiently to earn more money so I would be able to afford the things I have been yearning for the past two and a half years that I’ve been unemployed. Sure, I have my paycheck from the part-time job but still not enough to afford the things I’ve yearned1 but little by little, I have been progressing.
This year is the first time that I’ve received a tax return since I went back to having a job again. And I have to say, I am happy with what I received. In addition, the day after that was also pay day. In other words? CHA-CHING~!!
One of the few things I’ve done was to purchase more classes at Udemy using their discount offers (75% off!) which included web designing and development classes, general courses like speed reading and speed memory, as well as reading up on Vedic Mathematics, and of course, finally, writing courses. This doesn’t just include fiction/novel writing, but this also includes copywriting. Maybe I can also do a copywriting business on the side if my attempts at opening my own web designing firm doesn’t go well.
Finally, I have finally purchased my first “.me” domain from Namecheap. “.me” domains are quite expensive, but with Namecheap, they have a special discounted annual price. That “.me” domain will house all of my fiction and fanfiction writing. I thought about integrating it in to my blog but that didn’t go too well. It ended up just being a mess. Next, I plan to purchase another one for this blog alone. I think it’s about time to move out of the subdomain level and in to its own domain. I’m leaving the “adrimarie.us” for my official web designing/development portfolio and “niche” blog and the “lets-volt.in” domain for my hobbies and collectives blog.
I’m finally finding and growing my “financial” independence slowly but steady. I already took away some of the bills (mainly my phone bills and my student loan bills) away from my parents, who had been paying them during my struggling unemployment years and went back to paying them alone. I re-applied for one credit card so I can re-establish my credit again and gain back my purchasing superpowers once again. I thank them for helping me out through these years and even though I vowed that I would pay them back, being parents, all they could think about was to see me become successful again. It’s all about family connections, I guess.
I tried to get back in to journaling and art journaling again. I used to have countless art journals that have random abstract art in them back in college, but they were all lost and gone when we moved to a new home. I have been relying heavily on my Kindle app on the phone now purchasing cheap eBooks that talk about journaling and art journaling. I also used to do lettering art as well, transforming my handwriting in to pieces of artwork. I’m also currently taking a Corel Painter X3 class at Udemy so I can have a kickstart in using that new program and create more digital art as additions to my portfolio.
I also volunteered to build sites for friends as well. Of course, no charge for now, but I need some new material to update my portfolio so I can finally work on the new layout and present it with brand-new content. I also found myself changing my web design styles as well. No more “cutesy” stuff, except if they’re just personal projects. It’s all about flat designs now. Much cleaner and easier to design and easier to please the public eye.
Finally, I can finally travel around places and become a hobbyist foodie again. I won’t have to get picky with what I eat in terms of the cost2 and that I can finally do the Instagram “foodie” diary or something in the lines. Mmm… food!
It’s a short blog entry because I’ve got some chores to do and other stuff that I want to do, but I just gotta write just so I can let my happiness and excitement out. Can’t you tell how happy I am?
