Fact: everyone in the world dreads it whenever the tax season is about to arrive to their lives. It’s not because people get nervous whether they would have to pay taxes or not. It’s because filing taxes with all of the paperwork and the math is time consuming and a complete hassle. In addition to that, taxes become a headache whenever the tax due date1 approaches the calendar.
I know. I have my dad and (sometimes) my sister, who are both passionate accountants, do all my taxes. They know how much I suck (more like lazy) with math, even though there’s easier automated software like TurboTax that were invented. Going to a tax preparer’s office is a whole lot of more hassle. Make sure all of your W-2 forms arrive to you by mail and make sure all of the numbers are plugged in correctly to come up with the most accurate number: the amount that you have to pay the government or the amount that the government pays you back.2 Last year, my dad almost completed my taxes at the last minute because he got too busy doing other things that doesn’t involve taxes in general. My mom nagged him forever to get all of our taxes completed. My brother, the highest paid among us siblings as an armament software test engineer, is just plain too lazy to deal with his own taxes. In short, my dad and my sister are our hidden CPAs of the family. They should open their own tax agency or something.
But anyway, I’m writing this because I am getting a huge tax return after my dad decided to file my taxes early.3 I was rather shocked because this was the first time that I would be receiving a tax return with that high number. This would greatly help me boost up my bank account for future purchases and investments. But as of this year, I’ve got two (maybe three) things that I look forward to purchase when I receive my tax return checks:
And then, part of the tax return will also go to finishing the installment for my WordPress Developer Blueprint program, pay the bills, and whatever’s extra will be saved for future purchases.
The latter item, Comipo, is a major discovery for me. Some years ago, I received a series of “how to create digital manga” books, as well as manga/anime-style clip art, as gifts from friends, but I rarely have the time to learn or even work from them because of work, other interests, and a hectic offline life schedule. When I was cleaning up my room a few weeks ago and clearing up my bookshelf, I decided to keep these manga books because I knew I would need them again eventually for digital designing purposes. With the Comipo software, it would be a whole lot easier for me to create these because the “how to create digital manga” templates included in those books/CDs would require me to do some manual coloring and editing using Photoshop.7
It’s Monday, my first of my two “weekends” from work. Gotta go to my WordPress class.

- so I won’t have to pay the developer license fee every single year. I can be an Elegant Themes member forever! [↩]
- Thank you Steam for promoting this software! I can’t wait to finally make my anime-themed designs and possible webcomics for my blog hehe [↩]
- this is an option… I rather just get the Adobe CS6 software program and own the program forever than paying $9/month or something and then not be able to use it if I cancel my subscription… [↩]
- or GIMP, if I do get around to learning the program in the first place [↩]
