Actually, I’ve been waiting for the release of WP 3.0, so I can seriously work on my blog and my upcoming portfolio and among all things. In addition to that, I have been doing a lot of other things that took me away from this blog for over a month now.
Job hunting and Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Clash 2010. That’s what took me away from blogging and web designing for over a month. But that’s okay, at least I didn’t forget to check my site(s) to be sure I’m not getting spammed or something like that. And most of all, the upgrade to 3.0. To be honest, it’s the latter that seriously took me away from anything web-related, but because this season is ending next week, I thought it’s back to reality again, just like how the housemates of PBB will be heading back to reality at the end of next week. The thing is, which one of the remaining housemates will come out as the big winner?
Ever since watching PBB I’ve always kept my mind as open as I can. I admit that I had some hate on the housemates in the later episodes, however the remaining housemates today are actually the ones I wanted to win. Sadly, not all of them can ever be in the Top 6. Some of them will have to go.
I do have my gut-feeling favorites personally, but at the same time I have to be realistic at the same time. I’m basing my reasons for choosing my Top 6 based from what I have seen in the 24/7 Livestream unscripted & unedited live recordings, the Primetime episodes, and also the afternoon Uber segments, but primarily from the 24/7 Livestream, since that is where I can seriously learn more of who these housemates are as individuals.
Counting down from the lowest slot to the highest.
#6 – Devon Seron
I don’t want PBB to be a charity show. Just because Devon may be from a not-so-well off background, that doesn’t mean that she deserves to be the big winner. Actually, the one who I wanted to be the big winner was force evicted, which was I was quite upset. She has contributed some in the tasks and has shown that she is a good friend, however I also find her attitude flip-flopping at many times. In other words, sometimes she is a sincere friend to others, but behind the backs of housemates, she can also be sometimes shallow as well as a “backstabber.” Just by character alone prevents me from choosing her as the most deserving winner. I have no bias towards financial background at all.
#5 – Ivan Dorschner
I used to like and support him from the beginning of PBB. Not only did he have the good looks (I also think he’s the best-looking guy among all the guys in this season’s PBB), but he is also one of the most hardworking housemates in terms of chores and among other things. Despite of his strengths with household chores and tasks, his personality isn’t very appealing to me. I can’t really describe it, but somehow his somewhat serious and at times silent personality doesn’t help him shine among all the housemates. It’s like his looks and his physical abilities is the only thing that helps him get noticed by the rest of the housemates but nothing else. At the same time in the later episodes, his somewhat shallow reasoning had been upsetting me about him and that I’ve lost my favor of him to be in the Top 3 slots of the 6 in the Big Night. There are a lot more deserving housemates than him when it comes to the Top 3 slots.
#4 – Fretzie Bercede
Fretzie is the “sweetheart” of the entire PBB. The housemates love her and the viewers love her for her true Pinay beauty outside and inside. She is also almost every male housemate’s dream girl, but in the end she only has her heart for only one (I won’t tell you, but if you also pay attention, your guess is as good as mine). I actually used to have her for my Top 3 spots, but as of late, her rather shallow and naive demeanor and reasoning somewhat dropped her to 4th place. Though I’m not hating on her for her mistakes, I just had this feeling that her mind isn’t “fully mature” yet that I really could not see her as Big Winner material. In addition, her personality isn’t as expressive and that she began by being one of the “wallflowers” and even until now, she still remained a wallflower unless if she was seen with that one particular guy. Though she has been opening up a little bit…
#3 – Robert James Reid
When the non-Filipino teens from all over the Philippines were selected and moved in to the Apartment side of the PBB house, this was when this season’s PBB became a lot more interesting. Moving on, James is one of the favorite housemates among all the housemates as well as with the viewers due to his mysterious aura and his mixed looks of half-Filipino and half-Caucasian Australian (not to mention his magnetic Australian accent that drive the girls crazy). Though he has contributed a lot on the tasks, his only downside is that of his being sickly. Due to his delicate health (asthma, pneumothorax), James was prevented from participating in various physical tasks, which makes it unfair for him to stay in the competition (he also agreed with this and even thought of a voluntary exit for refusing to remain in the house bedridden). One thing that somewhat turns me off from him is his (unintentional?) sarcasm, like I can never tell if all the jokes and other things he mentions are either for real or just plain sarcasm. On the other hand, he is an open person for anyone to talk to, although it’s very difficult to determine what he’s really thinking in his mind.
#2 – Hyun Sung (Ryan) Bang
The clown of the PBB house, Ryan is a natural comedian who is quite good at hiding his real emotions behind his jokes and his hilarious personality. He gets along with everyone and everyone gets along with him, plus he also has the power to keep everyone calm to prevent any unnecessary conflicts from happening. He’s one of the most neutral housemates when it comes to internal conflicts and uplifts the entire house with his natural sense of humor and his hilarious smile. I just wish though that he would also show a bit of his serious side, though he has shown his serious side a few times throughout the series. Though he’s not as talented or as skilled with anything else other than sports and physical challenges, Ryan still proved to be a true team player, as well as the true life and soul of the PBB house.
#1 – Bret Jackson II
One of the newly-recruited myx VJs (even if it’s just for 3 months), ever since Day 1, I will admit that it’s very difficult to ignore this American teen who possesses the heart of a true Pinoy youth whenever the camera focuses on him in the 24/7 livestreams, primetime episodes, and Uber segments. Just by at first sight, I already had a gut feeling that Bret would be making it all the way to the final week, regardless if he’s the one who will be the final evictee this Wednesday (Phil time) or end up in the Top 6. He not only had the “typical” American teen boy looks, but he’s solidly packed with talent, brains, discipline, responsibility and maturity. He also displayed his consistent leadership skills without even intending to be the leader of any task or any situation occurring in the PBB house. He wasn’t afraid to stand up for all his friends and he was not afraid to open up and express his feelings and his opinions regarding any situation. He also showed his way of loving to his housemates as well as his love and respect for his in-house crush (?), Fretzie. Definitely one of the most humble and consistent housemates I’ve seen in the entire house, I feel that he truly showed what he is capable of without showing off or insisting to his housemates on purpose, he is no faker or a backstabber (unlike most of the Pinoy housemates I could name…), and most of all I feel that he was the only one who put a lot of effort in the given tasks and whatever situation the house may have. The only thing I’m concerned about Bret is that he has very little confidence in himself, thinking he is one of the most “boring” housemates in the entire house , therefore I hope the people outside would be able to show him how much he’s being loved out here— by voting him in the Top 6 (best yet, be the Big Winner). :)
I did not choose Yi Shuan (Ann) Li to be in my Top 6 because even though she’s got a strong presence, I haven’t seen her make any impact throughout the house. She does show herself as a friend, as well as someone who shows her open mind at every situation in the house, she isn’t a wallflower, she talks a lot, and is quite loud, but other than that I haven’t seen her make any type of impact in the house. Personally though, if it weren’t for the “3 Pinoys & 3 Teenters” Top 6, I would definitely place her as one of the Top 6 and remove one of the Pinoys out of the slots (I won’t say who).
I’m not going to jump in to conclusions though as to who is going to be the Big Winner or who is going to be in the Top 6. I let the voters in the Philippines and those who have a TFC (The Filipino Channel) account to vote online. I don’t have one, plus I live in the U.S. (where PBB isn’t shown on TFC), so I’m not able to vote myself. If I’m able to vote, I’d definitely vote big time.
Last but not least, the remaining housemates below (two of them already evicted)…
